The story
The idea for Brewsees Eyewear was brewed up back in 2006 after an epic spring break trip down to the land of tequila, tamales and tasty ice cold beer. You know, Mexico. Our founder, Rob Ianelli was rocking those flips flops back then with those openers in the sole and well, let’s just say he stepped in some canine sidewalk leftovers and it didn’t go over too well. Realizing, his flip flops were deemed a bio-hazard and couldn’t be used to open bottles anymore, he started to think about a better location for a bottle opener. Bottle opener sunglasses were about to be developed.
Rob sat down at one of those plastic side walk tables, ordered an ice cold beer, took off his sunglasses and as he placed them down the idea hit him. Why not put an opener right in the arm of his sunglasses! A quick sketch on a dirty paper plate soon thereafter sparked a 5 year quest to develop the world’s first beer bottle opening sunglasses.
It wasn’t a pretty scene in the early days. Tons of prototypes, some fashioned out of wire, and spray paint. The sunglasses industry hadn’t seen anything like it and more importantly, no brand out there was really about living the brew life, drinking beers and throwing steaks on the grill. Over the years he cruised bars and beaches showing off the prototypes and it soon became clear that guys wanted Brewsees and it was Rob’s job to bring them to market. It was time to chase and capture the American Dream.
Determined to break the mold, Rob took the chance and went head strong into the development of Brewsees Eyewear. The sunglasses couldn’t just be novelty so they had to be affordable, polarized and made from the best materials. Brewsees was to be a lifestyle eyewear company with the ultimate utility. It took well over 20 revisions to make them perfect and the final decision on packaging each pair in a beer bottle coozie dawned on Rob while sitting out on the boat one day just a few months before the launch. Today, we’re happy to introduce our first of many models to come and the support and enthusiasm couldn’t be better from all of our fans and customers.
So from the Brewsees Crew to you – Welcome to the Brew Life – where you’re friends are close, the suds are cold and the good times well, they just don’t stop. Go ahead and grab that grill handle, pour the charcoal, cast that line, dig your toes a little deeper in that sand, hell, do whatever makes you never want to go back to work. That’s what you’ll find us doing. Where? Damn, there’s a lot of possibilities now aren’t there?
